GREA president Dr. Upchurch introduced the 2009-2010 theme "New Horizons for GREA, Building for the Future." Members will be collecting talking books to send to China in the statewide yearly project.

Dr. Upchurch attended the last regular local meeting and enjoyed a tour of Blakely, seeing all the changes that have taken place.

Dr. Sloan, GREA executive director, talked about membership and spotlight ads.

The membership goal for this year is 20,000. The goal is being quickly reached with 18,000 new members already added. The statewide membership is now 82,000. Locally, the group has added three new members, and would love to have more join.

State health benefit plans were addressed and members will receive more information on those in November.

Dr. Sloan thanked all members for their efforts to keep COLA.
