Tedder crowned SGA queen

Abby Tedder was crowned Southwest Georgia Academy's 2009 Homecoming Queen Sept. 11 following the game against Terrell Academy.

Austin Boyd, son of Mr. and Mrs. Webb Boyd of Blakely, and Lisa Earnest of Albany, along with Nile Knapp, son of Mr. and Mrs. Rock Knapp of Albany, and Parker Rentz, son of Mr. and Mrs. Tommy Rentz of Leary, crowned the queen.

Taylor Arnold, son of Mr. and Mrs. Jaa Arnold of Edison, Jamie Barton, son of Mr. and Mrs. James Barton of Leary, and Ethan Cody, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mark Cody of Albany, placed the banner on the queen.

The roses were presented to Abby by Danny Doster, son of Mr. and Mrs. Danny Doster of Leary, and Nick Lawrence, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hal Lawrence of Damascus. Weston Lee, son of Mr. and Mrs. Eddie Lee of Bluffton, and Andrew Stone, son of Bill Stone and Sherree Stone of Blakely, saluted the queen with a kiss.

Kyndal Andrews of Arlington and Jillian Ingram of Bluffton served as senior members of the homecoming court. Junior attendants were Bethany Bodrey of Colquitt and Marlena Collins of Edison. Brittany Burkett of Jakin represented the sophomore class with Jordan Boyd of Blakely serving as the freshman attendant.

At halftime, the homecoming courts paraded in convertibles around the track and were then seated in a special area in the stands, which had been decorated by their mothers. Following the game the girls were escorted to the track by their fathers and were introduced.

The homecoming dance was held Saturday night, Sept. 12 in the school cafeteria. The queen and her court were presented again. Each attendant chose a football player from her class as her escort. Parker Rentz escorted queen Abby Tedder. Kyndal Andrews chose Weston Lee as her escort and Andrew Stone escorted Jillian Ingram. Escorting Bethany Bodrey was Jameson Burch of Blakely and Cody Buckhalter of Jakin escorted Marlena Collins. Brittany Burkett chose Troy Hatcher of Leary and escorting Jordan Boyd was Cory Smith of Leary.

Queen Abby then crowned Danny Doster as the 2009 SGA homecoming king. The king and queen along with the homecoming court and their escorts led the first dance after the presentation. Music for the dance was provided by Rick LaGuardia.
