Melva Lee Powell Gallon, 78, of Blakely died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at Early Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Gallon was born Jan. 29, 1931, to the late Melva B. Powell and Fannie Webb Powell. She was a member of Calvary Seventh Day Adventist Church.

Survivors include her husband, James B. Gallon Sr.; seven children, Murrie, James Jr., Geraldine and husband Ervin, Walter, Vincent Sr. and wife Dorothy, Alisa, and Sharece and husband Andre; six brothers and sisters, Irene Gallon, Calvin Powell, Katherlyn Hailey, Odessa Best, Sylvester Powell and Deloris Gatson; 16 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Sunday, Sept. 13. 2009, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Community Funeral Home with Pastor Gregg Robinzine officiating. Interment followed at Green Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Chris Powell, Walter Gallon, Cedric Lowe Sr., James Gallon Jr., John Lester Turner and Vincent Gallon Jr.

Community Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
