The Early County High School Showchoir performed at the governor's mansion in Atlanta Aug. 25 for students in pre-kindergarten through fifth grade.

The Early Arrivals performed 11 choreographed routines at a literacy picnic sponsored by Gov. Perdue's office.

They also enjoyed a private tour of the mansion and sang at the Capitol during lunch hour for visitors and staff. The group was treated to a more indepth tour than is normally given and learned many significant facts about Georgia history.

Members of showchoir for the 2009-2010 school year are Katy Anderson, Leanna Cox, Jordan Driver, Ashley Dunnigan, Kasey Giles, Hannah Houston, Ashton Kidd, Anna Miller, Sam Odom, Abbie Palmer, Lindsey Smith, Jesse Still, Paige Still and Taylor Williams. They are under the direction of Ben Adkison.

The Early County Literacy Task Force served as a sponsor for the girls to attend this event.
