Kaplan University
Catherine Speight of Jakin received a masters of arts and science in teaching and learning from Kaplan University, a summa cum laude scholar.
At Kaplan University, she maintained a 3.9 GPA and was honored and selected to be a member of two honor societies, Alpha Beta Kappa and Kappa Delta Pi. Speight earned her bachelor's in criminal justice adminstration, cum laude, from the University of Phoenix.
Speight is the daughter of Rueben Jackson and the late Annie Mae Jackson of Blakely. She and her husband, Freddie, have four children, Michael, Travis, Latoria and Sheena. She is a member of St. Paul African Methodist Episcopal Church in Cedar Springs.
ABAC
A total of 244 students completed the requirements for graduation from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College at the end of the spring semester, according to Dr. Niles Reddick, vice president for academic affairs. These students were eligible to receive their associate's and bachelor's degree diplomas at graduation exercises May 7.
For the first time since the school was named the Georgia State College for Men from 1929-33, ABAC awarded bachelor's degree diplomas at the ceremony.
Joseph Griffin of Damascus received a degree in business administration and Robin Belcher of Ft. Gaines received a degree in nursing.
