Mary Alice Lanier Pittman, 83, of Bainbridge died Wednesday, June 3, 2009, at Memorial Hospital.

Mrs. Pittman was born July 20, 1925, in Early County, to the late Carl Hamilton Lanier and Ella Clemmie Loyless Lanier. She was a graduate of Damascus High School, attended Georgia Southwestern College and was a member of the First United Methodist Church.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Frances L. Billings and Catherine L. Clark; a brother, Carl Hamilton Lanier Jr.; and a grandson, Joseph Ashley Pittman.

Survivors include her husband, Willis R. Pittman; a daughter, Jennifer Pittman of Bainbridge; a son, Robert L. Pittman and wife Marianna of Jacksonville, Fla.; and four grandchildren, David Pittman of Manhattan, Ks., Andrew Pittman and Amanda Pittman of Alpharetta, and Caroline Pittman of Jacksonville, Fla.

Funeral services were Saturday, June 6, 2009, at 1 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Stephen L. Webb officiating. Interment followed at Blakely Cemetery at 3:30 p.m with Rev. Richard A.Turner officiating.
