Alice Davis McKnight died Tuesday, June 2, 2009, at her residence.

A native of Atlanta, Mrs. McKnight graduated from Washington Seminary High School and Marjorie Webster College. She was an avid bridge player and was a member of the Camellia Bridge Club. Mrs. McKnight was also a member of the Augusta Country Club, the Pinnacle Club and Reid Memorial Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mason Harris McKnight Jr.

Survivors include her daughter, Libby Engler and husband Doug; three sons, Mason Harris McKnight III and wife Lou, William Davis McKnight and wife Janet, and George Locke McKnight, all of Augusta; 12 grandchildren, John Douglas Engler Jr., Elizabeth M. Engler Beman and husband Davis, Mason Harris McKnight IV, Matthew McHorther McKnight, Marshall Dougherty McKnight, Jane Marie McKnight Kinsey and husband Joe, Blakely French McKnight, Aubry Davis McKnight, Dowtin Kennedy McKnight, Catherine Kennedy McKnight, Elizabeth Clay McKnight and George Locke McKnight Jr.; and one great grandson, Davis Howell Beman Jr.

Graveside services were Thursday, June 4, 2009, at 4 p.m. at Westover Memorial Park with Dr. Leslie Holmes officiating.

Pallbearers were Mrs. McKnight's grandsons, Gene Carter and Robert L. Moore.

Platt's Funeral Home of Augusta was in charge of arrangements.
