      There have been several court actions of interest this week... I read yesterday where the Georgia Supreme Court threw out Georgia's "left turn law." My first thought was that it would make it a lot easier to drive around the Atlanta Speedway at 200 miles per hour.

      JEKYLL ISLAND - We never should have made eye contact with the grizzled old fisherman at the table next to us. We couldn't help ourselves, though. He was straight out of Central Casting, right down to the scraggly white beard and his weathered captain's cap that was probably as old as he was. He was drinking PBR out of a bottle.

      A sidewalk discussion centering on creamed corn in a cast iron skillet, fresh squash in a cast iron skillet and how someone ended up coming to town to buy fried chicken because all the skillets were in use got me to thinking about, as my good friend Mr. Bill Sanders called it, the gospel bird.

      When asked to predict the 1973 National League pennant race, New York Yankees legend Yogi Berra coined the now-famous phrase, "It ain't over 'til it's over." Times change. Catch phrases should, too. Right now, we'd do well to ignore economic gurus and realize that as far as the current economic downturn is concerned, "It ain't over 'til it shows up under.

      Last month I reported on a list of people banned from Great Britain compiled by Britain's Home Secretary Jacqui Smith. The list included Michael Savage, host of the third-most-listenedto radio talk show in America. Savage was listed along with terrorists, murderers and advocates of violence.
