New year brings property tax deadlines
      Georgia property owners who feel their property has decreased in value due to the slump in the housing market can file a property tax return (Form PT-50R) between Jan. 1 and April 1 of each year. This little known process allows property owners to declare what they feel is the true market value of their property and will activate the appeals process.

Drug-related arrests made in Early County
      Recent search warrants have resulted in several drug-related arrests by the Early County Drug Unit. Officers executed a search warrant at 519 North Avenue which led to two arrests. Chris Coleman, 27, and Eron Brown, 28, both black males, were arrested after cocaine and marijuana were found at the residence.

Santa brings good luck
     Alex Warr shot a nice 8-point buck Friday afternoon, Dec. 26. He was so excited to bag this buck with his new 243 rifle that Santa Claus brought him the day before. Alex is the six-year-old son of Toby and Brandi Warr.

New Year's weekend deadly on Georgia roads
      The New Year's holiday travel period ended at midnight Sunday with 20 traffic deaths reported to the Georgia State Patrol over the 102-hour period. The traffic deaths were recorded in 17 fatal crashes that occurred between 6 p.m. New Year's Eve and midnight Sunday.
