Three non-partisan races set When qualifying for nonpartisan candidates closed Friday, three local races had taken shape for the Nov. 4 General Election. A race for the office of Probate Judge materialized the first day of qualifying when incumbent Probate Judge Tonya Holley and Clink Alexander qualified for that office. Incumbent Phyllis Craft will face a challenge by Denise Williams for re-election to her District 2 Board of Education seat. There will be a three-way race for the at-large District 5 Board of Education seat between incumbent Ronnie "Rat" Ashley, Cynthia Levatte and Jackie Love. Non-partisan candidates who will be unopposed for re-election include Board of Education District 1 incumbent William Davis, State Court Judge Tom Baxley and Superior Court Judge Ronnie Joe Lane. See next week's News for photos and profiles of the candidates.
