Local youth scores "Ace"

Rhodes Collier
While most golfers dream of making one, 14-year-old golfer Rhodes Collier made a hole-in-one May 24 at Crooked Oak Golf Club in Colquitt.

The ace came on the 15th hole par-three as Rhodes was on his way to posting the best score of his young career - a 69.

Rhodes, who has been playing golf a little over a year, shot a 33 on the front side of the 18-hole course in Colquitt with the help of a chip-in eagle on the 5th hole.

He shot even par 36 on the back nine with the help of the ace on 15 for a three under par 69. He made the shot with a 7 iron, hitting a EC2055 Titleist ProV1 ball.

Rhodes was playing in a foursome which included Charles Hobbs, Winston Trively, the Crooked Oak pro, and Danny Shepard of Colquitt.

Rhodes played in the Georgia Sectional Junior PGA Golf Championship this week in Athens at the University of Georgia Golf Course.

He is the son of Bob and Ashley Collier of Blakely.

   Rhodes,

Way to go...some of us who have played for much longer do not have a hole-in-one yet and we have NEVER been under par. Keep up the good work.
