Claude Salter Jr., 66, of Miami, Fla., died Friday, May 9, 2008.

Mr. Salter was born May 1, 1942, in Blakely. He was a farm hand and truck driver.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Survivors include his wife, Mazalean Salter; three daughters, Emma Mae Miller, Erma Jean Salter and Valerie Salter; one stepdaughter, Easter Evans; two sons, Ernest Salter and wife Jen and Claude Salter II and Tracy Salter; five sisters, Audrey Gleen and husband Ocine of Havana, Fla., Earnestine McBride, Ruby Jean McPherson, Linda Johnson and husband James and Glenda McBride and husband Arthur of Miami, Fla.; 15 grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

Funeral services were Saturday, May 17, 2008, at 11 a.m. in the chapel of Peoples Funeral Home with Rev. James Martin officiating. Interment followed at Mount Olive Cemetery.

Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of the arrangements.
