Mumbles
Next year it will be croquet
Billy Fleming

It was a weekend for building memories, this past Mother's Day weekend. Give me a minute, I'm counting... 14, not counting the dogs!

They weren't all at our house at the same time, though there were a couple of times it seemed like it.

There were a couple of Mother's Day firsts, too. It was Jake's first Mother's Day and he spent most of the weekend at our house with his Nana who was beside herself. (If you don't know who Jake is, you haven't been paying attention!)

It was also another first to have our newest daughter, Lenora - Heath's bride since October - with us on Mother's Day. She caused a rush of memories with the picture album "Family" she gave Judy. It was so well done I wasn't even offended when I saw my chubby, diaper clad picture.

It was a busy weekend at Judy's Mom's house, too - that's Mema, Hazel, Mary Hazel or Mrs. Brown, depending on who you are. Everyone at our house made it through her house several times over the weekend. Most of them found their way back to our house, however. That's where most of the food and Heather's "chocolate factory" was located.

Judy's sister Madelyn and Nick would have won the prize for the longest distance, having driven from Houston, Texas. They moved out there a few months back from St. Augustine when Nick took a district sales manager's job with Staples.

I was looking forward to seeing what influence the great state of Texas had on them. None. They showed up in flip flops, Crocs and shorts. No boots nor even a cowboy hat could be found.

Heath and I did find out what Nick has been doing in Texas - playing golf!
