Raymond Allen Nichols Sr., 67, of Abbeville, Ala., died May 6, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Nichols was born April 14, 1941, in Fulton County, Ga., son of the late William and Hattie Jane Reeves Nichols. He was a retired heavy equipment operator and a Baptist.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Theresa "Traci" Morgan Nichols.

Survivors include one son, Raymond Allen Nichols Jr. and wife Crystal of McCurtain, Okla.; one daughter, Jennifer N. Bertrand and husband Ron of Ft. Gaines; one brother, Harvey Nichols of Whitesburg, Ga.; three sisters, Frances Walker, Hazel Potts and Thelma Johnson, all of Newnan, Ga.; two grandsons, Logan and Nolan Bertrand, both of Ft. Gaines.

Graveside funeral services were were Saturday, May 10, 2008, at 2 p.m. in the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery near Cuthbert. Rev. Mickey Skinner officiated.

Lunsford Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
