Hospital administrator named

Archbold chief operating officer Kevin Taylor announced last week at a meeting of the hospital authority that Jon L. Dixon has been named administrator of Early Memorial Hospital and Nursing Home.

Dixon, an American College of Healthcare Executives Fellow, will assume the duties of administrator April 28, replacing Robin Rau who had been the administrator at Early Memorial since October 2003.

"We are excited about Mr. Dixon joining our team at Early Memorial Hospital," said Taylor. "Jon brings 28 years of healthcare experience to the position, as well as demonstrated success in a critical access hospital setting."

"Jon has also worked with multi-hospital healthcare systems which will enable him to work well with Archbold and its management team."

Dixon received a bachelor of arts in political science from Florida State University and master's degrees in healthcare administration and business administration from Georgia State University.

Dixon has extensive knowledge in operations, business development, physician recruiting, facility development, project management and regulatory compliance. In past tenures at medical facilities throughout the south, he has worked to reduce costs, boost morale, initiate new technology and services, and establish a firm foundation to support longterm growth.

He joins the Archbold system after serving as CEO of Warm Springs Medical Center in Warm Springs.

During Dixon's tenure at the 25-bed hospital/79-bed nursing home, he achieved a positive net income for the first time in eight years, reduced operating costs, implemented a strategic planning process and began orthopedic and general surgery programs.

Dixon may be reached by calling Early Memorial Hospital at 229-723-4241 beginning next week.
