Former Early Co. man shot A former Early County man was found shot to death last week in his Houston County, Ala. mobile home. Joe Tex Johnson, 69, formerly a resident in the Centerville area of Early County, was discovered April 15 inside his mobile home, located in thick woods down a winding dirt road called Courtney Lane. Johnson, who lived in the home alone, was reportedly found by a relative. Sheriff Andy Hughes, whose department is investigating the murder, stated that authorities believed the shooting happened during the early morning hours of April 15. Sheriff Hughes stated Johnson's home was burglarized April 2. A rifle and a large amount of loose change were taken. Hughes refused to say whether Johnson's home was burglarized again during or after the murder. Johnson collected rent for Coggins Trailer Court and Garden Estates Trailer Court.
