Two major construction projects are underway at Early County High School. Both projects - a new gym and classrooms, and improvements at Standifer Field - are being funded with E-SPLOST monies included in the June 2007 referendum.
The new gym facility, which will replace the existing Hammock Gym built in 1954, was included on the list of projects for the 2002 E-SPLOST referendum.
The new 68,000 sq. ft. will be located behind Mangham Auditorium on the site of the old baseball field and will also include new classrooms and technology equipment. The old gym will be renovated for additional classrooms.
The 2007 E-SPLOST also included $500,000 for stadium renovation, including bleachers, handicap accessibility, concession stand and lighting. The Early County Board of Education approved a bid of $466,000 for the project in January.
