By Paul Bridges Sports Writer

Pitcher Austin Boyd starts for SGA.
The SGA Warriors ended their spring break by sweeping a double header from Sherwood Christian Friday afternoon. The Warriors won the first game 5-3 and took the night cap 10-4.

Austin Boyd (2-0) got the start on the mound for SGA and pitched an outstanding game. Boyd allowed just four hits, all singles, and one walk while striking out six batters. Drew Bridges got the save pitching the final inning not allowing a hit and striking out two batters.

Sherwood took the early lead with an unearned run in the second inning.

Alex Wilson led the third with a double off the left field fence and scored on Blake Lanton's RBI single to right field. Lanton stole second base and scored when Miles Lee doubled down the right field line. Lee moved over to third base when Bridges singled to left and scored on a Chandler Ray sacrifice fly to put SGA up 3-1.

Sherwood took advantage of an error by the Warrior defense to score another run in the top of the fourth inning making it a 3-2 game.

SGA answered back in the bottom half of the inning. With one out, Michael Fincher walked and stole second base. Sherwood intentionally walked Wilson. Both runners moved up to second and third base on a wild pitch. Lanton drove in Fincher with a ground ball to the Sherwood second baseman. On a close play at first, the umpire called Lanton safe and Wilson snuck home as the Sherwood first baseman was distracted trying to argue the call at first base to put the Warriors up 5-2.

Sherwood scored their final run in the fifth inning making the final score 5-3.

In the second game, Sherwood scored two runs in the top of the first inning to take the early lead. SGA answered back with five runs in the bottom half of the inning to take the lead. Danny Doster, Fincher and Alan Mock had hits in the inning for the Warriors.

Sherwood scored two more runs in the second inning to close the gap to 5-4, but SGA came right back and scored two runs of their own to push the lead back up to 7-4.

Bridges singled and Ray reached on an error. Bridges scored on a sacrifice by Boyd and Andrew Stone, running for catcher Ray, scored on a RBI single by Doster.

Miles Lee (2-0) started on the mound for SGA and he shut Sherwood down the rest of the game.

SGA scored three insurance runs in the fourth inning. Boyd reached on an error to start the inning. Doster followed with a shot to deep right field that bounced over the fence for a ground run double putting runners at second and thrid with no outs. Fincher walked to load the bases. Wilson reached on another Sherwood error scoring Boyd. Fincher scored on a Mock sacrifice and Wilson scored on a Lee RBI single making the final score 10-4.

Danny Doster led the Warriors at the plate going 4-for-4 with a double and a RBI.

The Warriors' record is 7-2 on the year. SGA has region games coming up as they travel to Chula Tuesday to play Tiftarea before returning Friday to host Valwood. First pitch for both games is scheduled for 4 p.m.
