SGA students visit state capitol

SGA fourth graders visited with Rep. Gerald Greene at the capitol during a recent field trip to Atlanta.
Forty-five fourth graders and 35 parents and teachers had an unusually long ride to school March 6 when they traveled all the way to Atlanta for class.

The field trip was part of the Georgia Studies program and was organized to help students learn more about their state and its capitol.

"The Atlanta trip was a huge success. The students had a wonderful experience at the capitol. We got to meet Rep. Gerald Greene and see how the Senate and the legislature work. Everyone got pictures to use in their Georgia notebook," said teacher Terri Lawrence.

The itinerary included visiting the capitol, meeting Rep. Greene and going to Fernbank Science Center.

"My favorite part of the trip was visiting the capitol and seeing where voting happens. I liked seeing the Imax movie," said fourth grader Rebekah Bryan.

Fourth grade teachers chaperoning the trip were Cecilia Bush, Terri Lawrence and Kim Waller.
