Fifth graders study agriculture
      Mrs. Knox's fifth period science class was presented a program on agriculture awareness Friday, March 21 by Young Farmer advisor, Larry Worsley. Gov. Sonny Perdue has declared March as Ag Awareness month in Georgia and encourages agricultural education in fifth grade classes.

Sumner named Young Ambassador
      Chris Sumner, son of Chris and Sheila Sumner of Blakely and a senior at Early County High School, was named the 2008 Lions Young Ambassador for District 18-C at the Lions of Georgia District 18-C Convention March 1 in Moultrie.

      Audrey Layne Crocker, a native of Blakely, has been named to the Shorter College dean's list for the fall 2007 semester. The dean's list honors traditional students who earn a minimum of 12 semester hours and hold at least a 3.5 grade point average for the term.
