Lewis Ellis

Lewis Odell Ellis, 81, of Bainbridge, died Wednesday, March 19, 2008, at his residence.

Mr. Ellis was born Oct. 26, 1926, in Early County to the late Roosevelt Ellis and Mary Evelyn Townsend Ellis. He was a retired millwright with Bainbridge Machine Company and a member of Zion Free Will Baptist Church.

Survivors include his wife, Louise Ellis of Bainbridge; a son, Dale Ellis and wife Peggy of Bainbridge; six daughters, Margie Odom and husband Jim, Judy Holt, and Donna Tomlinson and husband Ted, all of Bainbridge, Mary French of Meigs, Merle Massey and husband Tommy of Calvary, and Pamela Manor and husband Michael of Canon City, Colo.; three sisters, Evelyn Peterson of Bartow, Fla., Gladiss Rhodes of Reynoldsville, Ga., and Jean Riley and husband Tom of Blakely; 14 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were Monday, March 24, 2008, at 2 p.m. at Zion Free Will Baptist Church with Rev. Jimmy Love officiating. Interment followed at Zion Free Will Baptist Church Cemetery.

Pallbearers were Tony Kennedy, Jessie Parrish, Jeff Parrish, Gene Parrish, Fred Walker Jr. and William Godwin.

Ivey Funeral Home of Bainbridge was in charge of arrangements.
