Unsung heroes honored
The fourth annual Unsung Hero Banquet, sponsored by the Freedom Council, was a huge success. Making of a Model from Tallahassee, Fla., provided entertainment for the event Feb. 23. The Freedom Council spotlighted three unsung heroes this year - Cynthia Edwards, Benjamin Cawthon and Mia Pittman.
Pastor Edwards was spotlighted for her commitment to fighting for the rights of others. Mr. Cawthon was spotlighted for his organizational efforts in the fight for equality, and Ms. Pittman was spotlighted for her dedicated service to Early County's youth.
Poetry, modeling and inspirational singing entertained all in attendance. Also, each unsung hero gave words of thanks and appreciation as they received their awards. Congressman Sanford Bishop provided additional awards for this year's honorees. Each honoree received a "Certificate of Special Congressional Recognition" signed by the congressman himself.
