Cemetery maintenance needed
      The rains have come, the grass is growing along with the weeds - if your loved ones are buried in the Cedar Springs Cemetery and you have not donated this year, your help is needed to continue hiring help to keep it mowed during this growing season.

Unsung heroes honored
      The fourth annual Unsung Hero Banquet, sponsored by the Freedom Council, was a huge success. Making of a Model from Tallahassee, Fla., provided entertainment for the event Feb. 23. The Freedom Council spotlighted three unsung heroes this year - Cynthia Edwards, Benjamin Cawthon and Mia Pittman.

SGA Warriors open baseball season 4 to 1

      The SGA Warriors finished off a busy first week of the 2008 baseball season winning three of four games to go 4-1 on the young season. After winning the season opener against Fullington Academy Monday, the Warriors won a nail biter in Dawson against Terrell Academy, 6-5 Tuesday.

      Abby Brown of Blakely and Rebecca Conner of Arlington were recently inducted to Georgia Southern University chapter of the Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society among 344 new members. To become a member of Phi Eta Sigma, a student must earn a GPA of 3.5 or greater during their freshmen year.

      Southwest Georgia Academy's Literary Team took home the second runner up trophy from the GISA AA State Competition at Valdosta State University March 11. Thirteen schools competed.

Graduation test scheduled
      All students who entered grade nine after July 1, 1991, must pass all parts of the Georgia High School Graduation tests in order to earn a high school diploma. The Georgia High School Graduation tests will be administered at Early County High School.

Computer classes open to adults
      Early County Literacy Task Force will offer a free computer class every Wednesday beginning April 9. The six-week class is open to adults needing to learn basic computer skills in order to enter the work force or improve their current job skills.
