What's happened to humanity?
To the person or persons who ran over my children's pet:

My children are crying right now. Why? Because someone ran over and killed our Jack Russell, Tucker, this afternoon. Tucker was a sweet dog and loved children. He even liked cats. In fact, at times I believe he thought he was a cat. Right before Tucker was killed he and my son were sitting in a chair watching television. Tucker was grinning and wagging his stumpy little tail.

When my son and his friend from next door went outside to play, Tucker went too. Obviously, he got in the road. Luckily my neighbors found Tucker and let me know that he was dead before my son saw it. Since my husband was not home, they got him off the road for me; I was crying too hard to do it.

The person or persons who ran over our pet did not do the considerate or humane thing and stop. I have no idea who it was, nor do I really want to know. I do know that my street, Cedar Avenue, is extremely busy with people using it as a shortcut between Chattahoochee and Flowers. Almost every car that goes by is exceeding the speed limit by a wide margin. The scary thing about this is that nearly every home on this street has children who like to play outside on pretty afternoons like today. It could have easily have been someone's child who was run over instead of "just a dog."

I hope whoever killed Tucker sleeps well tonight.
