Hodges serves in AmeriCorps' NCCC Lindsey Hodges, a Blakely native, deployed Monday, March 3 for her first project of the year with the National Civilian Community Corps, an AmeriCorps program. Hodges is serving as one of 36 team leaders at the Central Region campus in Denver, Colo. The other NCCC campuses are located in Perry Point, Md., and Sacramento, Calif. As a team leader, Hodges will be responsible for managing the daily activities of 10-12 Corps members and encouraging high standards for their community based service learning projects. Hodges will serve as a role model, educator, safety manager and liaison between the campus and project sponsor. Team leaders arrived campus on Jan. 2 to begin their training, which emphasized teamwork, leadership development, communication, service learning and certification by the American Red Cross. They have been assisting with Corps member training since Feb. 4. Prior to joining the NCCC, Hodges attended Early County High School and Georgia College and State University. Hodges said, "I decided to return as a team leader because of the monumental impact my Corps member year had on me. I've been feeling the call to return since my first term." Hodges is the daughter of Danny and Debra Hodges.
Founded in 1994, AmeriCorps NCCC is a residential national service program created to improve the environment, enhance education, increase public safety, address unmet human needs, and assist with disaster relief.
