Welding team wins third

The Early County High School FFA Welding Team recently placed third out of 17 teams at the Area V FFA welding career development event. The development event was held at ABAC in Tifton Feb. 5.

Team members Heath Busby, Cody Aycock, Jonathan Farris and Bruce Higginbotham participated in welding events. Busby competed in SMAW, Aycock in GMAW, Farris in brazing and Higginbotham in cutting.

Bruce Higginbotham tied for first place in cutting and Cody Aycock placed second in GMAW.

Higginbotham competed for the Top Gun Award on Feb. 26. To win this title students have to compete in all four welding events, SMAW, GMAW, brazing and cutting. Higginbotham placed fifth overall.

FFA is a national organization of over 449,000 members preparing for leadership and careers in the science, business and technology of agriculture. FFA is an integral part of the agricultural education program in public schools.

The FFA mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of students by developing their potential for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agricultural education.
