New gym and classrooms at ECHS
If you don't get out south of town very often, it would be worth a trip a few miles down U.S. 27 to see the long-awaited four-lane construction underway.

The $26,757,000 project will four-lane the 7.5 mile stretch of highway between the Blakely bypass and the Damascus-Hilton Road intersection.

Another project originally scheduled for 2008 would four-lane the 10- mile stretch north of Blakely from the Blakely bypass to the Bluffton bypass. That project, estimated at $18.5 million has been delayed and designated as a long range project.

Also scheduled for construction this year is the 6.8-mile stretch from the Bluffton bypass north to the intersection of the Carnegie-Vilulah Road in Randolph County, estimated at $26,867,000.
