Miracles are God-given
Pastor Fred Daniels, Blakely Ministerial Association
1 Kings 17:1-24; Hebrews 11:1-19

Miracles are supernatural events designed by God to meet desperate needs. God is the God of the impossible. Man's extremity is God's stage for miracles. God has made a miracle for you today; you only need to know how to receive it.

The stage was set for a miracle. The widow of Zarephath was in a desperate situation. She had just enough meal and oil to bake a cake for herself and her son to eat, and to die.

The instrument was prepared to perform a miracle. God wants to deliver and bring us out of every crisis. God does not work in a vacuum. Elijah was the instrument to the same woman and her son. When a distress cry goes up to God, heaven sets a plan in motion for the miracles on earth.

You must play a part in the miracle. Elijah told the woman to do something that sounded crazy. "Make the first cake and bring it to me." What? The woman might have protested. "You must be crazy; my son and I could die." But she obeyed him. God may ask you to give when you are broke; to pray and wait; forgive, talk to someone, or go through a divine test.

Obedience delivered the woman from a crisis. God will ask you to do something practical. You must follow his lead, even though it may sound crazy. If it makes sense, it usually isn't God. God has every miracle in his hand. Today - pray "Father, in the name of Jesus, I need a miracle now, please hurry Lord!"
