Coachman is new UGA Ext. agent
Coachman, a native of Seminole County, assumed his duties last month filling the posit ion which had been vacant since the departure of Terri Cameron last year. He outlined the programs available to the community last month at the Chamber of Commerce board meeting, including financial security and well-being; foodbourne illness prevention; housing and environmental health and safety; childcare, youth and family development; and chronic disease prevention and management. "I am excited about coming to Early County as your Family and Consumer Science County Agent to provide services and information to meet your family and consumer needs," he stated. Like other UGA Cooperative Extension agents, Coachman has a wealth of resources available to the community from the University of Georgia College of Family and Consumer Sciences, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences. In addition to frequent programs, Coachman plans to keep the public informed about various issues and opportunities through regular articles and columns in the Early County News. Coachman is a 1969 graduate of Seminole County High. He served in the U.S. Army following high school and went to work at Georgia-Pacific in 1972. He was an assistant purchasing agent at GP until 1994. He earned a bachelor of science degree at Troy State University in Dothan in 1982. He has worked with the University of Georgia Extension Service since 2005.
Coachman invites anyone needing additional information to give him a call at 229-723-3072 or visit him at the Cooperative Extension office on Highway 62 east.
