Sammie Hamilton Sammie Lee Hamilton, 86, of Blakely died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2008, at Early Memorial Nursing Home in Blakely. Mr. Hamilton was born in Plains Feb. 20, 1920, to the late Mamie Lou Hamilton and Claude Hamilton. He was a member of the Church of God in Christ and a cook. He was preceded in death by one child; 10 brothers and sisters; and two stepchildren. Survivors include his wife, Jeanette Hamilton; one son, Joena Allen and wife Gail of Hallandale, Fla.; six step-children, Paul Allen and wife Amie, Joe Allen and wife Liz, Alice Allen, Gilbert Allen and Curtis Allen, all of Blakely, Jenifer Allen of Hallandale, and Kenneth Allen and wife Minnie of Ft. Lauderdale; four sisters, Cory Lou Hamilton, Ela Lou Hamilton, Emma Lee Hamilton and Ossie Mae Hamilton, all of Americus; one brother, Bobby Lee Hamilton of Albany; 30 grandchildren; and 24 great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Saturday, Jan. 19, 2008, at 11 a.m. at Friendship Baptist Church with Minister Charlie Sol officiating. Interment followed at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery.
Peoples Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
