Hal Clinkscales Sr. Philip Harold "Hal" Clinkscales Sr., 89, of Blakely died Tuesday, Jan. 8, 2008, at Hospice Atlanta. Mr. Clinkscales was born in Early County Feb. 11, 1918, to the late Jefferson Lafayette Clinkscales and Sammie Mae Ferrell Clinkscales. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Blakely, director of First State Bank, past president of the Blakely Lions Club, member of Magnolia Lodge #86 F&AM, and a retired farmer and businessman. He spent his life in Early County. He was preceded in death by his wife, Vivian "Rip" LeSueur Maddox Clinkscales. Survivors include one daughter, Lynda Clinkscales Ray of Eatonton; two sons, Phil Clinkscales and wife Dyanne, and Gary Clinkscales and wife Kaye, all of Blakely; one brother, Hulan Clinkscales and wife Maxine of Florida; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren. Funeral services were Friday, Jan. 11, 2008, at 11 a.m. at the chapel of Manry- Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home with Dr. Alex Howell officiating. Interment followed at Blakely Cemetery. Pallbearers were Jeff Clinkscales, Pace Clinkscales, John David Hallman, Philip Clinkscales III, Jim Clinkscales, Sam Clinkscales Jr., Sonny Hall, Al Hutchins and Clink Alexander. Honorary pallbearers were the bank directors of First State Bank and John Love.
Manry-Jordan-Hodges Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
