Flood risk discussion at Thursday meeting

Anyone living in or near a 100-year flood plain will be interested in a meeting at the Lucy Hilton Maddox Library Thursday, Nov. 6.

From 12:30 p.m to 2 p.m., local officials, Georgia DNR and Federal Emergency Management Agency officials will discuss new flood plain maps and the latest flood insurance study.

The new, enhanced Digital Flood Insurance Rate Map will be on display, and Flood Insurance Study for Early County Arlington, Blakely, Damascus and Jakin includes elevation profiles, charts and a narrative report of local flooding to be used by permit officials for development in the flood plain.

Property owners, individuals living in or near the 100-year flood plain, realtors, lenders and insurance agents are encouraged to attend. For additional information call 723-4304.
