City nixes fire protection agreement with county
In other agreements city pays 40%, county 60%

The Blakely City Council voted to notify the Early County Commission of their decision to end the city/county fire protection collaboration effective Jan. 1, 2009. The memorandum of understanding which took city coverage into the county was first signed in November 2001. The county originally paid in $80,000 to the city each year for fire protection. More...
