Commodities to be distributed
      USDA government surplus commodity distribution will be held in Early County at 1241 South Main Street, Blakely, Sept. 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. if supplies last. In Calhoun County, they will be distributed in Arlington, Sept. 18 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at 104 Maxwell Street while supplies last.

Archbold offers health fair just for women
      The National Women's Health Information Center reports that women in Georgia rank high in rates of death due to heart disease, stroke, influenza and pneumonia. Further, Georgia has some of the highest rates of high blood pressure, obesity and very little physical activity.

MILITARY NEWS
      Private Treiwan Williams graduated from US Army basic combat training in Fort Jackson, S.C., Aug. 8. He was in the third battalion 60th infantry regiment. Private Williams was recognized by his drill sergeant as serving as encouragement for his fellow soldiers during their physical drills. He received the honor of master sergeant.
