Ferguson shares Rotary experience
      A sizeable Rotary crowd was in attendance to hear Ryan Ferguson share his summer experience at the Rotary Youth Leadership Awards program. Sponsored by the Blakely Rotary Club, Ryan attended the RYLA program in Americus. RYLA was created because Rotarians believe in the potential of youth, and the importance of developing and investing in youth leadership.

David Waller released on $300,000 bond
      According to published reports Friday, District Court Judge Brad Mendheim handed down a ruling Thursday saying Houston County Sheriff's investigators have 30 days to either charge a (former Blakely man) in an unsolved capital murder case or his bond will be reduced by more than half its original amount.

Former Blakely city official killed
      Former Blakely City Administrator Bill Shingler was killed last week in a fiery auto accident on U.S. 84 west of Donalsonville. Seminole authorities received a 911 call from OnStar around midnight Aug. 13.

Blakely man charged in bank robbery
      A Blakely man, 47-yearold Randy Peterson, has been arrested and charged with the Aug. 11 robbery of the Wachovia Bank in Dothan. Peterson's arrest was the result of a Crimestoppers tip. Following the tip local authorities assisted Dothan police with the arrest of Peterson.

      Georgia residents with insurance problems or questions can receive assistance directly from the commissioner's office by contacting his insurance investigator working in your area. An investigator from the office is scheduled to be in Blakely from 12:30 p.m. until 1:30 p.m. Aug. 27 at the Courthouse.
