Early County Sheriff Jimmie Murkerson won re-election in the Aug. 5 General Primary runoff election, defeating challenger Donald Bryant with 54.75 percent of the vote. Martha Claire Boynton Lunsford, 82, of Arlington died Saturday, Aug. 9, 2008, at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany.
