      Each of the gospels was written for a specific group of people. The focus of each of the accounts showed some specific aspect of the earthly ministry of Jesus Christ of Nazareth. Matthew wrote his gospel to the Jews. He often made direct reference to the Old Testament writings, which were part of the background of his readers. Luke wrote to a Greek audience.
