MILITARY NEWS
      Thomas Ceasar of Blakely will retire July 11 at Afloat Training Group in Mayport, Fla., as a chief petty officer of the United States Navy. He will have served 23 years. He has been married to Margaret Robinson, also of Blakely, for 22 years and they have one son, Thomas II, who is 16 years old.

      Fire drill? Probably not, even though the two story Blakely Hi school building pictured above, which once stood on the site of the present middle school on Columbia Road, was destroyed by fire in May 1941. This school photo was taken by The Hart Studio of Albany.

Fundraiser plans at Chamber
      The Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce is making plans for its annual reverse raffle fundraiser. Tickets are $100 and include dinner and dancing for two and a chance to win $15,000 plus door prizes and other activities. The event is set for Thursday, Sept.
