Godwin selected by NSHSS

Andrea Godwin Andrea Godwin Andrea Jena' Godwin of Jakin has been selected for membership in the National Society of High School Students. The society recognizes top scholars and invites only those students who achieved superior academic excellence. The announcement was made by NSHSS founder and chairman Claes Nobel, a senior member of the family that established the Nobel Prize.

"On behalf of NSHSS, I am honored to recognize the hard work, sacrifice and commitment that Andrea Godwin has demonstrated to achieve this exceptional level of academic excellence," said Nobel. "Andrea is now a member of a unique community of scholars - a community that represents our very best hope for the future."

This summer Andrea is traveling to Alaska on a 17 day trip to learn about the history, government, economy and culture of that area of the country. This experience was made possible through the People to People student ambassador program which was established by President Dwight D. Eisenhower to promote world peace and understanding. The program combines hands-on cultural experience with behind-thescenes access to fascinating people and places and amazing outdoor adventures to create life changing educational experiences.

Andrea is the daughter of Angela Godwin and the late Frank "Tim" Moore and the granddaughter of Jeannett Godwin. She is a rising senior at Early County High School and a member of Mt. Pisgah African Methodist Episcopal Church in Jakin.
