Afterhours well attended by community Over 65 local business owners attended the Small Business After Hours hosted by the Early County Entrepreneur Friendly Program Dec. 6. Nine speakers were on hand to offer advice and assistance to existing and prospective business owners. Latoya Cutts with the University of Georgia's Small Business Development Center said, "I was very impressed with the turnout because it was such a show of support from leadership in the area and the community as well. It is encouraging as a state resource provider to see this kind of response." State resource providers help small business owners develop business plans, research traditional and alternative sources for funding, implement staff development programs and encourage expansion possibilities. Assistance is not limited to state lenders. Area financial institutions and service providers also offer a variety of services to Early County's business force. After the Entrepreneur Friendly designation date in March, Early County will be eligible for the Entrepreneur Friendly Implementation Fund for funds up to $25,000 to aid local men and women in the success of their businesses.
Interviews will be conducted during January by members of the Early County Entrepreneur Friendly Program committee to gather ideas from 30 local business owners. For more information or to volunteer to be a part of the interview process, contact the Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce at 723-3741 or ECEFP Chair Mary Beth Temples at 308- 9374.
