DOT upgrades traffic lights in Blakely

Seems some citizens are thinking the water and sewer rate increases announced this month by city officials are paying for the work going on at traffic light intersections in town. WRONG!
The traffic light upgrades going on at the eight intersections in Blakely controlled by lights are being upgraded by the Georgia DOT. The $1.39 million project is being funded through the federal Safetea-LU program.
Mayor Hall noted that the project will make the intersections both safer and more attractive.
