Seniors visit John Deere University

Seniors have a lot to do - passing the graduation test, keeping their grades up and making a plan for entering the real world are just a few.

Eric Harris, agriculture teacher at Early County High School, has seen the need to prepare agriculture students for a career after high school.

He planned and organized a field trip to South Georgia Technical College in Thomasville Friday, Dec. 7. The area of the college they visited was the John Deere technical school.

Early County agriculture students were able to see what college students are required to do and learn while enrolled in the school.

They also learned that John Deere students gain skills in diagnosis and equipment repair. As a college student they will also be able to gain hands-on experience during a paid internship.

All of this can lead to a successful career.

This field trip was an eye opener for all those who attended. Some seniors are even making plans to enroll and begin classes next year.
