Billy J. Bass
Truck Driver

Billy J. Bass, 79, of Blakely and formerly of Bainbridge, died Saturday, Dec. 8, 2007, at Southeast Alabama Medical Center in Dothan.

Mr. Bass was born Oct. 30, 1928, in Grimes, Ala., to the late William Lloyd Bass and Audie Mae Howell Bass. He was a truck driver for McKenzie Tank Lines and served in the United States Army during World War II. Mr. Bass was a member of Calvary Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Myrtle Ruth Aycock Bass; and a brother, Earl Bass.

Survivors include a niece, Kimla Nunley of Jakin; one brother, Tommy Bass of Bainbridge; and three sisters, Josephine Knight of Bainbridge, Sylvia Stephens of Fowlstown and Earline Yonas of Lakeland, Fla.

Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 13, 2007, at 2 p.m. at Ivey Funeral Home Chapel in Bainbridge with Rev. Slade Speirs officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Memory Gardens.

Pallbearers are David Williams, Cameron Nunley, Joseph Nunley, William Friend, Hank Williams and Jim Nunley.

The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Wednesday, Dec. 12, 2007, at Ivey Funeral Home.
