Aerostar World lands at Early Co. airport

Several Aerostar World mechanics were working on a Cessna at the airport Tuesday afternoon. Four aircraft have already been moved to the local airport. Several others will be relocated from the Dothan facility as soon as they are flight ready.
The Early County airport is the home of a new tenant, Aerostar World, Inc., a successful company with over 25 years experience in providing factory level maintenance for Piper Aerostars - one of only three companies in the world to do so - and is the parent company for Flightline of Dothan.

"We're looking forward to expanding our operations to Blakely," Don Smith, owner and president of the company told the News Friday from his office in Dothan.

Smith founded Aerostar World in 1981 with the concept of a personalized maintenance facility for Aerostar owners.

"Our company has been greatly successful and has a customer base of over 100 Aerostars on a regular maintenance basis," Smith notes on the company's website, www.aerostarworld. com.

"Our success is owed to many factors with the most important being serving our customers' needs with high quality maintenance and technical expertise with the Aerostar aircraft."

Smith, one of the original Ted Smith Aerostar factory employees in Santa Maria, Calif., provides many years of maintenance and test flight experience on any type Aerostar aircraft.

Aircraft sales is another Aerostar World service. The company presently has nine aircraft listed for sale on their website.

Flightline of Dothan is a full service FBO at the Dothan airport providing high quality Chevron aviation fuels, aircraft tie-down and hangar storage, motel reservations, rental car services, and free courtesy car when available.

Smith noted that several projects have already been moved to the Early County airport maintenance hangar and a plane is already being scheduled for a paint job in the paint hanger.

"We have future plans to expand our Fixed Based Operations to Blakely," Smith stated. "When this expansion is complete, the FBO will be open Monday - Friday during normal working hours."

Smith stated space is available for aircraft storage and efforts are underway to establish self-serve fuel concessions onsite in Blakely.

"We also have plans to move our Aerostar Flight Training School to the Blakely facility," he stated.

Aerostar World can be contacted at 229-724-4171 in Blakely or 334-983- 5600 at the Dothan facility.
