HOLIDAYS ON THE SQUARE An antique car show, petting zoo, rock-climbing wall and the annual Christmas parade are just a few activities everyone can enjoy this Saturday, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Court Square. Dec. 1 marks the 14th year for Holidays on the Square. Artisans and vendors from throughout the region will be on hand to give citizens a jump start on Christmas shopping with unique items including wood crafts, hand sewn linens, jewelry and iron work. Registration for the car show is from 8 a.m. to 11 a.m., when judging begins. Children can create a wide variety of take-home treats at the kids craft tent, which is free to all. Kids can also have pictures taken with Santa from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. The craft tent and Santa will be on the northside of the Square. The southside of Court Square will become an entertainment district with performances from local dancers, singers and musicians throughout the day. Parade grand marshal Joanna Smith is slated to perform between 1 and 1:30 p.m. Dancers from A&A Studios, vocalist Will Wiley and Three Notch will showcase their talents during the holiday celebration. Enjoy a pony or train ride around the Square, or jump around on huge inflatables. Find food to satisfy any craving and the perfect gift for everyone on your list. Line-up for the Christmas parade begins at 1 p.m. at King Plaza Shopping Center on Columbia Highway. The parade begins at 2 p.m. and will feature Santa wishing everyone a very merry Christmas from atop the City of Blakely Fire Department Engine number one.
Applications for participation in the parade and car show can be picked up at the Blakely-Early County Chamber of Commerce or by calling 723-3741.
