Bobcats lose in first round
By Jay Palmer Sports Writer

Bobcats hold firm on Jefferson during the first round of the playoffs. The Bobcats were eliminated in the first round with a 13-0 loss.
The Jefferson County Warriors ended the Early County Bobcats' dream of a state championship by defeating the Bobcats 13-0 Friday night in Louisville. The Warriors are now 9-2-1 for the year. Early finished at 8-3 on the season.

Things started well for Early, as the Bobcats recovered a Warrior fumble on the fourth play of the game at the Jefferson 35-yard line. The Bobcats moved to the Warrior 17 before turning the ball over on downs. The Bobcat defense played well all night and kept the offense in good field position for most of the game. Early started drives in Warrior territory five times on the night but could not crack the end zone.

Jefferson's first score came when Carlos Lowery stepped in front of a Bobcat pass and returned it 32 yards for a touchdown at the 5:52 mark of the second quarter. The point after made the score 7-0.

The Warriors extended that lead the first time they had the ball in the second half on a 75-yard run by Barry Bostick at the 8:34 mark of the third period. The extra point try failed to make the score 13-0. Early came back with their best drive of the game, moving from their own 47 to the Warrior 1-yard line in just two plays. But Jefferson held them out of the end zone on the first three downs and Early fumbled on fourth down to end the threat. The Bobcats drove to the Warrior 8-yard line the next time they had the ball but turned it over again on first and goal.

The Bobcats' final chance to get back in the ball game ended when they again reached the Jefferson 8- yard line, but a Bobcat pass in the end zone was ruled out of bounds to end the scoring threat.
