County plans Health Dept. renovation The Early County Commissioners moved a couple of projects forward with action at their November meeting Monday night at the County Annex. The commissioners approved Polyengineering as architect and G.W. Hudson Consulting to prepare the proposal for a community block development grant to renovate the county's health department building on Flowers Drive. The commissioners also approved a request by Sheriff Jimmie Murkerson for funds from the jail construction and staffing account to purchase a video monitoring and recording system for the county jail. A resolution requesting a waiver for the existing underwriting policy of development authority's revolving loan fund was also approved. The resolution requests approval from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs to provide a fixed asset loan in the White Oak Pastures project at a rate of 3 percent interest rather than 5 percent. A resolution supporting prescribed burns was also approved.
Alcoholic beverage license 2008 renewals for John Lott for County Line Package Store and Riverside Travel Center and Mary Quattlebaum for Bo James BarBQ were approved. A new license for the remainder of this year was approved for Gordon McClure for Doc's Hideaway.
