Southside welcomes McQueens for Homecoming Homecoming will be celebrated at Southside Baptist Church Sunday, Nov. 4. The speaker for the day will be Ed McQueen, former pastor at Southside from 1993-2001. Homecoming services will be from 10:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. Elizabeth McQueen, wife of Brother Ed, will sing followed by the sermon with lunch at 12 p.m. Elizabeth holds a bachelor degree in church music from Shorter College. Both Elizabeth and Ed attended Southern Seminary in Lousiville, Kent. Ed was awarded a master of divinity and a master of Christian education degree. Elizabeth received a master of divinity in counseling. The McQueens live in Deltona, Fla., where Ed is pastor of an interdenominational church plant facility called Water of Life Fellowship. The church is mission-minded and seeks to bring in unchurched people. Elizabeth is clinical director of a mental resident program in Daytona. She is also in private practice as a Christian counselor at the Water of Life Christian Counseling Center. A new church is in the planning stage and some of the Southside members will be working with the McQueens in this endeavor.
The McQueens have two children in high school. James is a junior and attends the Academy of Structural Design and plays drums in the praise band. Katie is a freshman and attends the Academy of Health Science. She is a level 9 competitive gymnast and won bronze at the Junior Olympics.
