Bobcats: The tie that binds
A number of former Bobcats and the Bobcat family joined our staff in putting together a 20-page special section rekindling memories of a passion that has helped shape lives in our community over the past 86 years.
"Here Come the Cats" includes accounts of the Bobcats' first football team and their first game against Dothan and Alabama All-American/cowboy movie star Johnny Mack Brown; the years of six-man football; the 1964 state championship season; other championships that slipped away; remembrances of coaches Frank Buckner and Ray Knight; a tribute to 50 years of the Band of Blue Marching Band; and photos of teams, players, cheerleaders and bandmenbers. And there are more Bobcat memories on page 11 in this week's paper.
"Here Come the Cats" will leave you with one undeniable impression... the Bobcats and those who have loved them has been the tie that binds the fabric of our community.
