City council sets ad valorem tax rate
      The Blakely City Council set the city's ad valorem tax rate at 3 mils at a called meeting Sept. 26. The rate represents a rollback from 4 mils and will net the city approximately $311,771 in operating revenue, $6,900 over last year's ad valorem revenue.

      Georgia's regular Energy Assistance Program will open Nov. 1 for homebound and frail elderly households. Households with individuals who have life-threatening medical conditions and have been disconnected or are in danger of being disconnected may apply.
